The abandoned bird barn, located in Niigata Prefecture; one of the major granaries in Japan, was built 20 years ago and endured through that time, year after year of heavy snowfall.
With the help of the carpenter who had built the barn 20 year’s ago, we located and cut the solid foot anchors which had kept the barn on the ground. By doing so we retraced the memory imprint of the barn.
新潟。もう使われなくなってしまったこの鳥小屋は土地の豪雪に20年間耐えてきた。
かつてこの小屋を建てた大工と一緒に基礎と小屋を固定しているアンカーの位置を探りあて、この小屋を土地から切り離していく。そのプロセスにおいて私たちはこの小屋の物語を追憶し、最後の時間を共有する。
